I am extremely proud of myself today... I got lots of stuff accomplished :-)
I finished my Tech Writing homework (which is good, since it's due tomorrow)... I trimmed my hair (something that desperately needed to be done)... I went to the gym and got called fat by a little blond punk... I got Kris' comment system installed on my blog... and I scored higher on a quiz than Davis :-) This is truly a red-letter day. See, our Discrete Structures teacher doesn't like smart-ass answers... so he deducted half a point from Davis' quiz for an unnecessarily extremely complex answer. I lost a quarter of a point for not showing all of my work, but that means I beat him by a quarter of a point :-) (you have no clue how big of an accomplishment this is for me).
I am of the opinion that teachers in America should learn to speak English at least enough that most of the students can understand them. If, for some reason, they cannot clearly communicate verbally, they should be able to write key information on the board legibly. If they cannot do either of these, they should be sent to some remote cubicle to do research far far away from frustrated students. Or maybe they could hire a translator and write a textbook.
While I'm complaining about the injustices of the world...
It's way to dadgum hot here!! Don't get me wrong... I love the temperature outside, however unusual it may be for this time of year. But the heat inside the buildings on campus is ridiculous. MSU's heating system only has two states: on and off. And it doesn't like to change. In fact, the heat cannot be turned off and turned back on in any kind of a timely manner. (why? I don't know. You might ask a mechanical engineer... they tend to know those kind of things). So the university turns on the heat around the middle of November... and doesn’t turn it off until the middle of April. Which means that if a January day happens to have a high of say, 75 degrees, the temperature inside the buildings is somewhere around 90. Combine this with the fact that out heaters are much more efficient than our air conditioners, and you'll understand why Wal-Mart has suddenly run out of desk fans. Someone should start a petition to have heat controls in every room... but not me. I think I'll just crawl into the refrigerator and take a nap :-)
