[I]t unfolded about the way I expected: two teams roughly evenly matched in their incompetence; one winning in the end only because at some point the game had to end and one of them had to win.
To be honest, I had planned on tracking the game through the intarweb (since watching wasn't going to be possible)... but long story short, I didn't. Between Christmas shopping, Chad coming home from roleplaying, and my knowledge that both teams were going to suck... yeah. It didn't happen. Which means, sadly enough, I didn't watch a single State game all year. Which is actually kinda depressing, but not as depressing as the fact that we haven't won more than 3 games in a season in the last 6 years.
Don't get me wrong, I still bleed maroon and white. And given the chance to go to a live game, I'll go no matter how bad I know we'll suck. :-) But it would be nice, at some point, to have a tiny bit of the crazyness (and winningness!) that we had my freshman year... Maybe next year?
ps... yeah, I know the pic is broken, I have no idea why. I'll fix it, as soon as I figure it out.
Football weather? So we lost to Tulane. But hey, at least we scored points, right?
And it's always nice to know things could have been worse... Texas held Rice to minus 12 yards rushing to win 52 to 7. Ouch. (At least I'm not an Owls fan?).
I have more sutff to say, but not the time (at the moment) at say it. *sigh*.
Mississippi News for the day: Dante Walker was sentenced to 22 years in prison yesterday. A couple of those are for possession of marijuana, but the bulk were for possession of cocaine. He was playing some ball for Birmingham (I was actually unaware the Birmingham had a team), and is apparently fighting the conviction.
I'm just glad they didn't let him off because he played football. I mean, really. In SEC world, it happens way too often.
Other world news: Apparently, North Korea has Nukes. They have them, not because they really want to rule the world, but because the US is oppressive. So the big question of the moment is... are we going to oppress them, and take their nukes away? Or stand down, and get nuked?
Actually... the question of the moment seems to be (I'm watching the CBS evening news)... What would Diana think of Charles marrying Camilla? Which is, of course, the only question that matters. Here's my answer: She would either do what everyone else in England is doing, and smile through her teeth and say she hoped they were happy... or she would tell us all what (I think) she really thought, that he should have married Camilla in the first place, and then we wouldn't have to deal with all this "Princess Consort" shit.
The world. Is a mess. But at least the Pope is back in the Vatican. Something, if only one thing, is in it's place, and makes sense.
So the game sucked. Which I sort of expected... But, on the ontehr hand, I harbored some hope. Because, after all, it was Vanderbilt. But alas, they kicked our... tails.
But the trip itself was good. We had a lot of fun. Hung out with Andrew and Kelly, ate at the Hard Rock... Rode the bus there and back... went to the Opry Mills mall... generally had fun. So that made up for the game. Somewhat.
At least the next game is against UAB. If we lose to them, there's a pretty good chance we can book Starkville Acadamy for homecoming last year.
So. In recent Deedee news. We won our football game against Tulane (yay!), a victory made even more sweet by the fact that Memphis beat that other school :-) Also, encountered my first ever truely defective DVD. Like, nothing on the second layer will play. Weird. As usual, homework is keeping me busy... And Chad and I are doing laundry today. Yay for clean clothes.
Anyway... more forthcoming. Maybe. if I feel like blogging later.
So... Since I blogged last... I went home, and had peices of me removed... I came back here, and basically slept for a week... and I've been running ever since to make up for it. Note: Do not have surgery the week before all of your pre-midterm tests. It causes undue levels of stress, and lots of knots in your back.
But I think I'm *almost* caught up... except it's 9:10am, and I haven't started on the homework that's due at 11am... but I just finished the homework that's due at 12:30pm, so that's got to say something. :-) This weekend will help, a lot. I'm not sure exactly what I'm doing this weekend, besides homework... I'm tempted to go to the ballgame, as it's the one this semseter we're least likely to lose (braces for barrage of football jokes from David) :-) But I may just go tailgate, and then sit at Wesley and do homework. We'll see.
For all you Mississippians, regardless of school. The last two full paragraphs make this priceless... (Again, link stolen from David. You know... y'all could prolly preview half my content if you read his blog first...)
