Spoilers and such... Harry Potter 7: They All Die In The End, And It Turns Out Voldemort Was His Mum
This was the headline on a story in one of my feeds... which I thought was really funny.
I read the book, and loved it, I'll read it again soon... but I can't say much about it :-) I'll be glad to discuss it over e-mail, if you like. I was happy, though, that one of my more obscure predictions was dead on, though.
Harry Potter (No Spoilers) Saw Harry Potter OotP at the midnight show Tuesday night / Wednesday morning. I liked it, a lot, even though it was shorter than I might have hoped for. I would have made the movie like, 11 hours long.
They managed to cover all the high points from the book, only omitting a few things that I would like to think are vital in later books (a silver locket, which should be in Book 7, perhaps?). They did manage to include my favorite line from the book, even though it wasn't particularly important to the plot, which made me happy.
One nitpick, and then I'll stop... they repeatedly used a spell from Half-Blood Prince. Which doesn't make sense, because Harry et al. couldn't have learned that spell until next year. (I'm enough of a dork that this actually pulled me out of the movie).
Anyway, overall, I'd give it 4.5 out of 5. Would have been a 5, if it was a little longer, and if they had included the damn silver locket.
So. Wedding news up to this point. We have a Photographer. Yay. I have to run and put the deposit down today or tomorrow. I have a dress, shoes, petticoats, underwear, stockings, a veil, a tiara, a travelling outfit, and an entire box of stuff to wear on the honeymoon. We have a Unity candle, a guest book, and a fluffy feather pen. Two of the bridesmaids bouquets are done, and the other two are close... my bouquet is short one flower, and it'll be done. My Aunt has volunteered as wedding director, if we need one... and I'm going to take the pianist the music today. 9/10 of our invitations are out... I have to get more stamps today (and Chad need to get me the last 4 or 5 addresses). We have toasting glasses and serveware... We've ordered printed napkins. So what's left?
We need a cake. We need to fght with my mother about whether we're getting premade mints, or making them ourselves. We need programs, and program paper. We need to tie ribbions around all the bottles of bubbles. And there's one bridesmaid left that hasn't tried on her dress. and, closer to time, we need to order food trays. We also need plates and silverware, and cups, and pretty trays to put the food on.... and someone to put the food on the prety trays. And I think that's it.
We're making it. Slowly but surely. It's all coming together.
In other news, my brother got his drivers liscense... and my sister got her permit. But... Rob having his liscense means I don't have to get up at 5am any more... and i can make him drive places.
It looks like I may be in birmingham on Wednesday, just for the day (or, afternoon and evening)... I may be bringing both of my siblings, we'll see. Plans while I'm down there: Go to the cemetary, maybe squeeze in some shopping, eat dinner with William, and *Maybe* watch Harry Potter (finally).
btw, I'm safely in Memphis... er... Southaven. Trying to figure out how Chad and I are going to celebrate our negative one-st anniversary... Right now it's looking like a cook out and fireworks :-)
ok... so... This isn't a spoiler, but I have a few things to say about Harry Potter. Having finished Book 5 the day it came out, I went back and read Harry Potter again... Books 1-4... and I picked up on a lot of things in the earlier books that I would never had noticed if it weren't for the last one... and, upon my inspection of the earlier books, I have determined that not only was Harry not out of character in book 5... he was totally in character. Everything in the first four books leads up to his actions (and reactions) in the last one... I could cite examples, but then this would be a spoiler. And I promised not to do that.
So... If you are questioning Harry's actions in the last book... reread the first 4. Especially Goblet Of Fire. It helps. I promise.
You are a JAMES POTTER to Harry! The father he never had, the father he wishes he knew. You're more of a fatherly type to people. You're kind, loyal, unbiased and just an over all "gosh-golly-shucks" kind of guy. Everyone likes you, and you like ev- well, almost everyone. BUT! You are mischieveous at times and you do know how to party ;D
