Another post on the broken blog... I am truely hopeless.
I'll be in Starkville this weekend... but as to whether I actually get to see anyone there... eh. We'll see. Going to a wedding. Again. This is the last one until mine, though. Which is nice.
Ho hum. Off to go do housework. And maybe get to visit the office later.
Found out last night my internship isn't going to happen. Which is good (more time), and bad (less money, stay at home, don't get to work with the NE team). I might have to find another job.... but I don't know what I would find for short term on this short a notice... maybe Huntsville Hospital needs a short term computer person? Lookig into Space Camp, not sure that will work on such a short time line, though.
Anyway. Not so much new here. Passing everything, at the moment. Which is good. Failing is bad... graduation is good... moving is annoying... getting married is good... wedding planning is complicated... grad school is good...
*brrr* It. Is. Cold. Very Cold. My WeatherPixie says it's 37 degrees in Starkville... a little colder here, I imagine. Snowing, on and off all day today But not enough to get out of work.
I am so scatterbrained today... it's like i can't hold one thought in my head for any length of time...
I swear... when we move to the new building, I want to be back in the teacher hub. Or in the Techie end of the building. But not where I am. Stupid... People... Piss me off.
So... my current NE project brings me to the question....
Exactly how big can you make a PDF before Acrobat blows up? I'm assuming it's a very lage number of pages.... but Acrobat doesn't seem too happy about my current document... which is about to hit 500 pages.
I finally finished compiling the lecture material for the Microgravity curriculum I'm putting together.... 119 pages. Of just lecture material. Not counting the lessons and handout sheets, etc, that I still need to put together. Or the PawPoint slides I'm trying to decide if I need to put in there. But that's ok... the lecture stuff is done.
Actually... I had a really good Christmas. Spent lots of time with family (both mine and Chad's)... took some time off of work... sang happy songs... got cool stuff... give some really killer gifts that people liked a lot (don't think I screwed up anyone's present this year)...
And now I'm back at work... for a half day, at least. But I can't do any of the work I was intending to do.... as ::Strongbad voice:: NASAexplores is down, yo ::/Strongbad voice:: 5ux0r5.
Guess what! "El Noticiero de NASA" is featuring the k-4 History of Flight crossword puzzle (one of the ones I did that was on the Portal) in their next issue...
Oh well. I will go on Blogging as if the publish thing was working. I think Krys and Manda are down, as my Shout Outs aren't working, and I can't access Manda's Blog. On the other hand, they can't be totally down, as we are hosted through them.
So. Yay. I'm at work. And I have lots of work to do, but i can't do any of it, because the server is down. Until NASA decides we aren't too much of a security risk. Fun.
And I'm going ot have to pack like a mad woman for the next two days... then take Thursday off... then pack some more on Friday so I can go back to school. Packing, by the way, is not my idea of a fun thing to do with my evenings. On the other hand, I think i have almost everything I need to go to school. Yay for me! I just need to pull it all together. I have most of my food packed... so tonight I'll prolly start on packing my books and stuff. And my KitchenAid mixer. *grin*
Cleaning out my desk.... it's kind of odd, I have like, three summers worth of crap in here. But that's cool, too, in that a lot of it I had forgotten about. Some of it is even stuff that goes home with me... posters, lithos, the 508 notes that I got from Karen... it's interesting.
oh yeah... NASAexplores published yesterday... The Engine In The Computer, about reducing airport noise, and The Human Advantage, about why it's important to continue manned spaceflight.
Since I wasn't here last Thursday, I didn't tell you what cool stuff NASAexplores published... so here goes: Stronger Than Rust, about anti-corrosion coatings, and Bringing the Clinic To The Patient, about telemedicine. (Be sure and check out the 5-8 and 9-12 lessons plans for the Rust story... I did both the 9-12's, and one of the 5-8's).
Check out the last NASAexplores summer edition... The Summer Triangle (Mindi and Jeremy write this one, but I did the graphics)... and JoCasta's interview with Leland Melvin, her astronaut crush *grin*
We go back to publishing regular articles and lessons next Thursday *yay*
mitochondria mobile cytoplasmic organelles of eukaryotes visible in the light microscope whose main function is the generation of ATP molecules
ok... so when I was in 5th grade, the only reason I knew what mitochondria were is because I read L'Engle. Granted, by 8th grade I had taken A & P, and had some scientific knowledge of mitochondria... but I don't think the average 6th or 7th grader is going to be able to decipher that definition. *I* am having trouble deciphering that definition. So yeah. We're gonna change it. As soon as I can find a good one.
Speaking of NASAexplores... the new summer issues went up today. Check out my spiffy page on Bootes, Arcturus, and Cassiopia (be sure to look at the pictures... I did those, too). And don't forget the cool bio of Jan Davis.
Today is link day, I suppose... because I can actually do that while I'm working on real stuff, and i might get assigned some real stuff to do today. If I don't have a real assignment in the next, like, hour or so, I'm going to make myself work on the 508 inventory that Karen made me start... to give you an idea of how tedious this thing is, I started on it summer before last... and I'm a third of the way through the first year of publication... but the site is now halfway through it's thrid year of publication... and i have to go back and change all the links that's I've already done, as rev2 changed all the urls. *sigh*
And I htink I'm going to post things one at a time to avoid confusion when commenting back to stuff *grin*
I hate calling people I don't know. *sigh* but that's life.
So it's Wednesday... and I'm at work. And I'm tired. And I hafta go to church tonight. Because Daddy's sick and can't take the little kids. Maybe I can find a quiet corner of one of the room to curl up and take a nap.... or not... naps might be dangerous. Maybe I can read. Reading is restful.
I feel guilty... because it's raining, and I'm enjoying the rain. And parts of Huntsville are still under water... so the last thing we need is more rain... but I like rain... When it rains, everything is ok. (unless your house is under 2 feet of water, I guess)... *sigh* I'm such an awful person... rejoicing in somehting that causes other people so much trouble...
Oh hey, random space excitement for the week: Be sure the catch the lunar ecplise Thursday night... it should be really visible anytime between 22:14 and 23:07, CDT. At least it should be, if it clears up around here.
Interesting note related to Daddy... My dad may soon become a pothead... or... well... something like it. Several people have suggested to him that medical marijuana might help him when he doing chemo. It's supposed to help a lot with the nausea and the pain... so he's going to ask Dr. Dang about it. What was recommended was the pills, mostly... although someone mentioned marijuana tea. Just an interesting note.
Too funny to not post here... think it'll work for me?
BTW, I blog spasticly at work... I keep a notepad window open, and type whatever comes to mind inbetween like, actually working and stuff. And then i post it all whenever I get a chance... so my post may be a little random. Just a little.
Hey hey hey.... send your name to a comet! How cool is that? Now my name will be on Mars, and on a comet! (I sent my name to Mars last summer). You get a spiffed out certificate, too...
Ah... finally. A "real" assignment. I get to design PawPoint slides for a big NASAexplores presentation. *sigh* The life of an intern is so demanding. *grin*
ok ok... I promise a more substantial blog later... maybe tomorrow. For now, suffice it to say I had a wonderful time this past weekend, and my car runs great. And I'm at work, and i have class tonight (which sucks). But for now, here's a good laugh:

school is finally over. But somehow, I'm still behind. Blah. Ok, so this was my week last week:
Monday: I have no clue what I did, but I think it involved finals. Two, If I'm not mistaken. Oh yeah, i attempted to start packing and cleaning... and I have a vauge rememberance of being extremely busy, but i have no clue exactly why. hmmm.... Oh yeah, I went to Wal-mart, too.
Tuesday: Spent the morning coooking spagetti sauce. took a karate final (made an A) :-) Went to William's, made lasagna with the spagetti sauce i had made that morning (Yep, that's me... June Cleaver). Ate dinner, hung out with William, watched office space, stayed out late.
Wednesday: Took a final, and then packed and cleaned until I was (literally) sick. Went to dinner with Ian and ELisa, watched Ocean's 11. Went to bed. Elisa ran a red light :-)
Thursday: Got up early, Mom and mandie picked me up at school. We loaded all my crap into the van, went to lunch at Oby's, did some shopping, and headed home. As soon as I got home, turned around and left again to go to a baby shower for one of mom's friends.
Friday: Got up, organized dad's dvd collection. Woke the kids up, started unpacking my stuff out of the van, into the living room (because my sister took over my half of everything... the room, the closet, the dresser. grr). Mom and I went shopping... Then I did some laundry (after I dug my way into the laundry room... I swear, no one does it while I'm gone). Then it was time to get ready for Robbie's Varsity Banquet. So I showered, dressed, and we left for the banquet. Brag time: Rob completed his manuel and four electives... about 2 1/2 years work... all this year. :-) I ran into Joseph Bearden... Hadn't seen him in ages. College seems to have done him good... he doens't seem nearly as shy and frail as he used to. anyway... we had a good chat. Everyone told me I looked good, and how much they had missed me, and asked me how school was, yada yada. And I didn't even have to make a speech :-)
Saturday: More shopping, more laundry, and more Awards banquet. This time it was Mandie's Junior Varsity Banquet. Brag time: Mandie finished the requirements for her Meritorious Award this year... That means she's completed more than six years worth of handbooks. :-) Nothing terribly interesting happened that night...
Sunday: Mother's Day. Went to church, went to dinner with Mom and Granny and Grandmother, smiled till my face hurt. Came home, cleaned out closets, did *more* laundry, moved a second dresser into my room, so i would have a place to put my clothes... folded laundry while watching Fifth Element... contemplated hammering things into the wall, decided to go to be bed instead.
Today: Got up early for work... had to put water in the radiator of dad's car... it leaks. Again. grr. Had to stop by the hospital and pick up my lisence plate, which dad forgot to put on the car. Parked in the tower, only to find out that I couldn't get out without a validation or an employee badge... couldn't find daddy... had to go upstairs and get mom, who was just getting off a 12 hour shift and was pretty tried and a little short tempered... so she helped me get a screwdriver from dad's office, and let me out of the tower... but not before yelling at me and dad (when he showed up) for awhile. So I finally made it out, got to work, got caught up with what's happening here. My cube is in the back corner of the office now (yes, I still have a cube) and it's really quiet. They may move me again in a couple of days. And I htink someone took my stapler. :-) I've been working on a reading list all day long. Hopefully I'll finish the reasearch part of it tomorrow, and can start formatting and coding it.
FYI -- I'm putting a link to William's blog on my page for my benifit... but his page requires a user name and password. If you really want to read his blog, you can e-mail him and ask him for access. :-)
And on that note, I'm going to get back to work. Or something like that.
Oh yeah, for those enquiring minds: I actually did manage to pass everything this semester. Even my evil physics class. :-) Yay for me.
