The sky starts to crash the rain on the roof starts to drumming I managed to take an hour for lunch again today… I went to Target, and bought Propel and paper towels. Which is entirely uninteresting, but saves me a stop on the way home.
Chad and I bought two apple trees this weekend. One for the front yard, and one for the back. We managed to plant the one in the front, but planned to do the one in the back yard tonight. Unfortunately, no one told the weatherman this, and now we're under a thunderstorm warning. So it'll have to be Wednesday, as I think we're both busy tomorrow night. And tonight, maybe I'll read or something… or at least pick out a book to bring to work tomorrow. I'm currently in the middle of several (which is typical), so I need to decide which one I want to finish next. Slowly but surely, I’m working through my "to read" list.
The sky pours out biblical rain / Then days so still the beauty gives you pain [whining] My back still hurts. [/whining] Nothing new there.
It's really freakin' cold here. Just in case you wondered. We're too far south to have gotten a lot of the ice and stuff, but cold cold rain... yeah, not much fun. They closed Rice this morning (when I didn't have class), but are open all afternoon (when I have class).
But this (nsfw!) made me laugh today... Because I am sick and wrong. But then, I suppose, that's why I read PennyArcade.
Also, for like, the first time ever, I'm totally ahead on homework. Not only am I ahead... I've been ahead for two days. Yeah, really. I finished everything yesterday that was due this week... got assigned a new homework yesterday afternoon, and finished it just a few minutes ago. So yeah. I might get to enjoy my weekend (well.... I know I'm going to get assigned a pile of journal articles to read over the weekend. But it was a nice thought).
Cold! So... it's currently 13 degrees colder here than in Houston. In case you wondered. It actually feels really really really cold. Like, super-cold. I might have to brave Target/Walmart tonight or tomorrow to buy more socks (silly me, I brought mostly sandels, and not enough socks to wear boots everyday).
Otherwise, things are cool. We have something along the lines of 6 christmas celebrations/gift exchanges left. I think I'm oging to be christmased out by the end of it, but I suppose that's the way it works. :-)
Touched down in the land of the Delta Blues / in the middle of the pouring rain Well... it was raining. When we got here, between 1 and 2am on Friday morning.
And now it's kinda cold (as in, it's colder here than at home in Houston). But right now, I'm just thankful that I'm back in the land of Sweet Tea, Memphis Style BBQ, and Abner's Chicken. I mean, really, what more could a woman ask for (besides immunity to eat all of those things without gaining weight)?
Speaking of which... on my way to eat ribs today, got to ride in Michael's 350-Z... it's pretty sweet. But kinda small. :-) Also got to play a Wii, at someone else's house. And it was fun, but (as is typical for video games) I suck at it.
Also... fighting with one of Amazon's toy shops atm... ordered a black knight for Matt, had it shipped to him... but funny enough, when it got there, it wasn't a black knight, but a "Fun with your dog" science kit. I called them... the shop is closed from Dec 21 to Jan 8. I am not amused by this. Matt, however, is.
Anyway. Still no real info about what is going on in Huntsville... other than that we'll be busy with family on the night of the 26th and the morning of the 27th. I'll post more, when I know more, I guess.
Pardon me sir can I use your eraser / To remove my brain of unconventional nature It is December 16th. It is like, 80 degrees outside. Running the air conditioning in my house is not terribly condusive to having Christmas Spirit. Just in case you wondered.
In other news, I've now lost like, 25 lbs on the "Mt. Dew Diet" (my own invention, I guess). I'm htinking now that I should market this to Movie Stars and women's magazines. Bought new jeans today, since my other ones are getting a mite too loose.
And now I will go back to wat I hsould be doing instead of blogging... working on my Stats final. I hate stats. But at least it's almost over... oh wait, I have another stats class next semester. Great.
Brrrr! Um, yeah. So I heard a rumor that it doesn't get cold in Texas, except in like, Febraury.
They were wrong.
It is so cold... so cold it almost made Chad swear! Which would have been funny. Anyway... My missions for the day: Survive the next hour an a half at work without killing anyone, or screaming out loud. Go home, find pictures of the mostest awesome haircut eVar. Take said pictures to the hair dresser, and get a hair cut that (hopefully) resembles the pictures. Maybe watch a movie. Stay warm. Work on term paper... due Monday. Yay!
The raindrops as they're falling tell a story looks like it might (maybe) rain tonight. But... by the time it does, it will probably be dark, and running + rain + dark + scary construction = not allowed. Which is a shame... I've been threatening to go running for like, two and a half weeks or something. Eventually, I'll do it...
Anyway. In other Deedee News... I got a new (used) car. A 2003 Suzuki Areio. It's awesome. There might eventually be pictures, but yeah... haven't been so good on getting pictures online lately (hence the not having corset pictures up yet. The exist.. they just aren't on the intarweb).
New URL... for now. I'm tired of not having a blog (or at least, you know, one that is accessible and stuff).
So here's this, a temporary mirror until such time as my domain is permanently up and running.
As an interesting side note, I'm not dead. Although I had an interesting tornado experiance today, wherein a tornado apparently went right over my head while I played (what else?) D&D. When we heard the change in wind and rain, we decided it *might* be a good idea to check the weather... at which time there was a loud crack (the tornado taking out the power lines) and, of course, no electricity. About 2 minutes later, the sirens went off (you know, after it was all over).
So yeah, we're all safe and fine now, no serious damage to us or our stuff, although parts of campus got it pretty good. (Nothing destroyed, but some damage). And we have power back. Which is happy.
But, it is 2am, and I have classes tomorrow... and I still have to grade labs.
Thunderstorming here... big time thunderstorm, too. The thunder is shaking the building... and I can't see any of it, because I'm inside... in class. Sinfest on rain...
In other news, yay for open source software that does exactly what you need it to do, and has an awesome graphical interface (specifically Cluster 3.0, which is currently doing my machine learning homework for me).
*brrr* It. Is. Cold. Very Cold. My WeatherPixie says it's 37 degrees in Starkville... a little colder here, I imagine. Snowing, on and off all day today But not enough to get out of work.
I am so scatterbrained today... it's like i can't hold one thought in my head for any length of time...
I swear... when we move to the new building, I want to be back in the teacher hub. Or in the Techie end of the building. But not where I am. Stupid... People... Piss me off.
There are lots of advantages and disadvantages to having your desk face a window...
Advantage: Today is a nice sunny day, and it's pretty outside, and I have something to look at when I'm not actually working...
Disadvantage: Today must be MSFC's Middle-aged-engineers-run-around-outside-with-your-shirt-off-and-get-all-hot-and-sweaty day... because I've seen about a dozen guys run by without their shirts...
